The year 2020 has been full of uncertainty, many twists, and turns, as well as many opportunities. Being able to spend more time at home I had lots of time to reflect and think about the future. Having this time I got to really reflect where I would like to be in ten years. During this time, school got moved online and work hours got cut. I started looking for what job I wanted and how it would help me reach my future goals. The job I found during is time was with the U.S Forest service. I now am working full-time, many opportunities have begun to open up. I have pondered this work field before due to the fact my father, mother, and both my older brothers where wildland firefighters. As my father would say “It’s in your blood, it’s who you are.” Although I am not going to be on the front lines fighting fire this year I do see that in my near future. I don’t know if it’s the fact that I was nearly born in a fire truck or the fact that for nine months my mother was fighting fire with me but I do know that fire is like a breath of fresh air for me. Although Covid has brought many challenges with it, I am very thankful it slowed down my hectic life to see the calling that has always been in front of me.
